The Mandalorian s2e3: Sasha Banks and Katee Sackhoff’s characters, explained - Polygon

Din Djarin aka The Mandalorian has been searching for other Mandalorians for the show’s entire second season so far. But in episode 3, he finally finds some. On the small planet of Trask, where he delivered the Frog Lady he saved from Ice Spiders, the Mandalorian met a small squad of Mandalore natives. But while these characters were all new to Din, a few of them are returning faces for many Star Wars fans.

Here’s a brief introduction, or reintroduction, to all of the important characters that showed up or got mentioned in The Mandalorian Chapter 11, “The Heiress.”

Bo-Katan Kryze (Katee Sackhoff)

As she explains in the episode, Bo-Katan is a native-born Mandalorian, and the rightful ruler of the planet. She’s a character that’s shown up frequently in Star Wars: Rebels and Star Wars: The Clone Wars, but this was her first appearance in live-action — though she was played by the same actor in all three series. When we last saw Bo-Katan in Rebels, she was the ruler of Mandalore and in possession of the Darksaber, but it seems, as a result of the Great Purge, she lost both.

Koska Reeves (Sasha Banks)

Koska Reeves is a new character to the Star Wars universe. We know that she’s a Mandalorian, and thanks to her armor, we can tell that she was a member of the Nite Owls, a small squad of female Mandalorian warriors led by Bo-Katan. Bo-Katan’s Nite Owl faction fought against Darth Maul when he briefly held control of the planet of Mandalore, but it’s unclear if Reeves was part of that fight, or if she’s a newer addition to the Nite Owls. Reeves is played by Mercedes Varnado, who is better known by her WWE Superstar stage name, Sasha Banks.

Axe Woves (Simon Kassianides)

Axe Woves is another Mandalorian follower of Bo-Katan, and another new addition to the universe from The Mandalorian. While Woves does wear blue beskar armor, similar to those of the Nite Owls, it doesn’t appear that he’s a member of the traditionally all-female group since he doesn’t have the owl-like designs painted on his helmet.

Ahsoka Tano (Rosario Dawson)

Ahsoka only got a brief mention at the end of this episode, but it seems she’s going to be an important part of the story in The Mandalorian’s not too distant future. Ahsoka was a former Jedi who fought alongside Obi-Wan Kenobi, and was the apprentice of Anakin Skywalker during the Clone Wars — though she left the Jedi Order before the war ended. After the fall of the Republic she quickly joined the resistance in hopes of stopping the Empire and Darth Vader. Shortly after the Battle of Endor, Tano went with a Mandalorian named Sabine Wren on a quest across the galaxy to find their friend and fellow post-Republic Jedi, Ezra Bridger. According to Bo-Katan, Tano is now on the planet of Caladan.
