Binge immediately: The late Grammy winner's life is the subject of a new drama series on Netflix, which dropped Friday
His thoughts: Chris shared the poster for the new series and wrote his opinion in the caption
The 51-year-old wrote on Instagram: 'Alright so, here is my take on this. I loved her music even before I joined the band. I was intrigued by the fact that her brother [AB Quintanilla] had his name on everything as producer. Keyboard player Ricky Vela was my hero as far as musicianship goes.
'Her dad [Abraham Quintanilla Jr] ran some amazing sound when I went to see them at an event in San Antonio. I learned so much by taking on their guitar player Roger Garcia's parts and doing my best to stretch it even further.
'They had a girl drummer that laid it DOWN (Suzette really is a bada**). Joe [Ojeda] and Pete [Astudillo] brought the "extra" and added a whole other dimension PLUS Pete wrote amazing lyrics....and they sounded HEAVY.'
He appeared to give his seal of approval, concluding: 'I will forever respect the band and the people involved in it. I hope you guys enjoy this series.'

In the dark: Pérez commented on Posey's casting back in April, writing on Instagram: 'For the record, never met him, haven't seen the script, and I have NO idea what is going on.....but, I'd love to find out'
Pérez joined their band Selena y Los Dinos as lead guitarist in 1989, quickly sparking a secret romance with the young lead singer, against her father's wishes.
After Abraham kicked him out of the band, Pérez and Selena secretly eloped in April of 1992, and her father soon came around, welcoming him into the family and back into the band.
The San Antonio-born guitarist was married to Selena for almost three years, until she was shot to death by friend and employee Yolanda Saldívar in March of 1995.
He is portrayed by Jesse Posey in the Neftlix limited series, which was produced by Abraham and Suzette, charting Selena's childhood and subsequent rise to fame.
