NORMAN, Okla. — UTSA's Hunter Bott, Collin Clark, Christian Fanfelle and Chad Sewell have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for their performance on the course and in the classroom, the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) announced this week.
Clark earned the award for the third straight year, while Fanfelle and Sewell collected All-America Scholar accolades for the second year in a row. Bott was honored in his first year eligible for the award.
This marks the second straight year four Roadrunners have earned this honor and UTSA now has earned 13 GCAA academic awards in head coach John Knauer's tenure.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status, an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior both academically and athletically. In addition, they must participate in 40-percent of his team's competitive rounds, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 3.2 or better. A recipient must also be of high moral character and be in good standing at his college or university.
Today's plaudits come one week after the program was recognized as a GCAA All-Academic Team for posting a 3.0-or-better team GPA during the 2020-21 academic year. That marked the seventh GCAA All-Academic Team award the Roadrunners have received under Knauer, who recently capped his 13th season at the helm with the program's first NCAA postseason appearance as a team.
