The Minnesota Vikings and All-Pro safety Harrison Smith have agreed to an extension, the team announced on Sunday. The four-year deal is worth $64 million, with $26.38 million guaranteed, a source confirmed to The Athletic. ESPN was first to report the news.
The deal makes the 32-year-old the second-highest paid safety in the league behind Jamal Adams, who signed an extension worth a total of $70 million earlier in August.
A five-time Pro Bowler, Smith had 89 combined tackles (54 solo) and five interceptions in 16 games (all starts) last season. He was entering the final year of his contract.
Smith has been with Minnesota for nine years since he was drafted with the 29th pick in the 2012 draft.
