2021 USTFCCCA NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field All-America - U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association

NEW ORLEANS – All-America honors for the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field season were announced on Sunday by the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches Association (USTFCCCA).

Athletes of member institutions who finished in the top-8 of their respective individual events and relays at the 2021 NCAA Division II Indoor Track & Field Championships this past weekend in Birmingham, Alabama, took home First-Team All-America honors, while those who placed ninth through 12th individually or on a relay team that finished ninth or 10th were named Second-Team All-America.

No program earned more First-Team All-America nods than Grand Valley State’s women, who took home 21 of them on their way to a dominant 93-point showing inside the Birmingham CrossPlex. The Lakers flexed their muscles across the board as they had at least one athlete in the top-8 of nine individual events and both relays. Grand Valley State notched multiple First-Team All-Americans in the mile, 3000, 5000 and pole vault.

Ashland, the men’s team champion, wasn’t too far behind with 17 of its own First-Team All-America selections (The Eagles actually had the second-most out of all men’s programs, as GVSU took home top honors with 19). It was a strong showing for Ashland, as Jud Logan’s squad amassed 70 points in a winning effort. The Eagles finished top-8 in nine different events – two each in the 60 and 200 – including both relays.

All told, seven different programs earned 10 or more First-Team All-America honors, including those already mentioned. Among those not mentioned so far are the fourth-place Central Missouri women with 12, the runner-up Minnesota State women with 12, the Northwest Missouri men with 11 and the Pittsburg State men with 11.

Eight different athletes earned three or more First-Team All-America honors, but none more than Trevor Bassitt of Ashland with five on the men’s side or Denisha Cartwright of Minnesota State with four on the women’s side. Bassitt won individual national titles in the 60H and 200, was part of the first-place 4×400 relay and placed top-8 in the 60 and DMR, while Cartwright finished among the top-8 athletes in the 60, 200, 60H and 4×400 relay.
