Four Buffs Earn All-American Golf Scholar Honors - University of Colorado Athletics - CUBuffs.com

    BOULDER — Four University of Colorado men's golfers have been named Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholars for the 2019-20 season.
 
    Seniors Victor Bjorlow and Daniel O'Loughlin along with sophomores Kristoffer Max and John Paterson are the most Buffaloes to receive the honor in the same year since it was created in 1982.  CU as now been recognized 24 times by 17 different players; this is the first time earning the honor for all four.
 
    To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be a sophomore, junior or senior academically.  In addition, if a Division I player, they must have a stroke average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.20.  For 2019-20, they must have participated in 40 percent of the team's competitive rounds.
 
    "Congrats to Daniel, Victor, John and Kristoffer for earning the tremendous honor of Academic All-Scholar," said CU head coach Roy Edwards.  "This award recognizes both golf and academic performance.  Those four epitomize what it means to be students and athletes."
 
    Bjorlow and O'Loughlin previously announced that they will return for a second senior year when the NCAA allowed that option to spring sport athletes who lost their seasons due to the COVID-19 pandemic.  Bjorlow graduated in May with a degree in Finance and Marketing and will take graduate courses, while O'Loughlin will finish up is Geography degree while enrolling in additional undergraduate options.  Max and Paterson are Accounting majors.
 
    O'Loughlin led the Buffs in stroke average with a 71.65 mark, followed by Paterson at 71.83 and Macdonald next at 72.52; Max had a 73.74 mark as all played 23 rounds in the pandemic-shortened season.
 
MACDONALD REACHES FINAL IN CGA MATCH PLAY:  Senior Ross Macdonald has reached the final round of the Colorado Golf Associations Match Play Championships for the second time in his career.  The 36th seeded player after the stroke play qualifying, he has rolled five opponents with only one match reaching the last hole at Aurora's Blackstone Country Club.  In 2018, he was a finalist at Ptarmigan Golf Club, defeating defending champion Chris Korte along the way before falling to A.J. Ott in the final.  It was almost an all-CU final, as redshirt freshman Jack Hughes lost in the semifinals to Colin Prater, 2 up; he had defeated Ott, 1 up, in the quarterfinals after starting as the No. 62 seed.  Macdonald and Prater will square off in the 36-hole championship match Friday.
