Trio Earn WGCA All-American Scholar Honors - Notre Dame Official Athletic Site

CORAL SPRINGS, Florida — Fighting Irish golfers Abby Heck, Lauren Beaudreau and Madelyn Jones were named to the 2019-20 Women’s Golf Coaches Association All-American Scholar Team.   

The criteria for selection to the WGCA All-American Scholar Team are some of the most stringent in all of college athletics with the minimum cumulative GPA set at 3.50. 

Heck was named a WGCA All-American Scholar for a third consecutive season. The complete team is listed here.

Abby Heck | Junior | Memphis, Tennessee

• Finished the fall of the 2019-20 season with a 73.64 stroke average, good for second on the team.
• Carded two under par rounds, including one in the 60’s.
• Competed in all four of Notre Dame’s fall events as a member of the starting five.
• Led the Irish at the Schooner Fall Classic (Sept. 27-29), finishing T-7th and shooting rounds of 72-71-66=209 (-1).
• Finished T-46th at the Minnesota Invitational (Sept. 9-10), shooting rounds of 74-77=151 (+7).
• Her 66 in the final round of the Schooner Fall Classic was Notre Dame’s lowest single round score of the fall season.
• Her 209 total (72-71-66) at the Schooner Fall Classic also accounted for Notre Dame’s lowest 54 hole total of the fall season.
• Opened the spring by shooting a 221 (+5) at the Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 23-24).
• After the cancelled spring portion of the season, had a 73.64 stroke average (third on the team) for the season.

Lauren Beaudreau | Freshman | Lemont, Illinois

• Finished the fall of the 2019-2020 season with a 74.82 stroke average (fourth-best on the team).
• Turned in a record-setting 206 (-10) at the 2020 Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 23-24), marking the best 54-hole score in program history (by stroke total and in relation to par).
• Carded one under par round in the 60’s.
• Competed in all four of Notre Dame’s fall events in the fall as a member of the starting five.
• Finished T-25th in college debut at the Minnesota Invitational (Sept. 9-10), shooting rounds of 73-74=147 (+3).
• Finished T-38th at the Schooner Fall Classic (Sept. 27-29), shooting rounds of 74-66-77=217 (+7).
• Her round of 66 at the Schooner Fall Classic was Notre Dame’s lowest single round score of the fall season.
• Opened the spring with a record-setting 206 (-10) at the Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 23-24), marking the best 54-hole score in program history (by stroke total and in relation to par).

Madelyn Jones | Freshman | Austin, Texas

• Finished the fall of the 2019-2020 season with a 73.73 stroke average (third-lowest on the team).
• Carded two under par rounds, including one in the 60’s, and one even par round.
• Competed in all four of Notre Dame’s fall events as a member of the starting five.
• Finished T-30th in her college debut at the Minnesota Invitational (Sept. 9-10), shooting rounds of 73-75=148 (+4).
• Led the Irish at the Illini Invitational (Oct. 7-8), shooting rounds of 74-73-72=219 (+3) to finish T-28th.
• Finished T-38th at the Jim West Challenge (Oct. 20-21), shooting rounds of 74-70-74=218 (+2).
• Opened the spring by shooting a 220 (+4) at the Westbrook Spring Invitational (Feb. 23-24) as Notre Dame’s third-best finisher, which included a second round 68.
• After the cancelled spring portion of the season, had a 73.64 stroke average (fourth on the team).
