Gardner-Webb Duo Named to Big South Baseball All-Decade Team - Gardner Webb University Bulldogs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb baseball placed a pair of players on the Big South Conference Baseball All-Decade Team presented by Hercules Tires.  The team was announced Thursday afternoon by the league office.
 
Collin Thacker (Wilmington, N.C.) and Justin Kunz (Wake Forest, N.C.) represented the Runnin' Bulldogs on the team, composed of the Big South's top competitors from 2010-2019.
 
A 15-person committee of Big South Conference administrators served as the official voting panel to determine the All-Decade Team, with fan voting comprising 20 percent of the overall total. 
 
Thacker played for Gardner-Webb from 2014-2017, posting a .345 batting average with 218 base hits, including 49 doubles and 16 home runs, and 122 RBI.  2016 was Thacker's breakout season in which he batted .394, including a NCAA best 28 doubles, earning first-team All-Conference and Louisville Slugger Division I All-America Second-Team honors.  He also was named first-team All-Conference in 2017.
 
Kunz competed for the Runnin' Bulldogs from 2016-2019, batting .280 with 191 base hits, including 53 doubles, two triples, and 25 home runs.  He also totaled 99 RBI in 190 games played.  Kunz earned first-team All-Conference honors in both 2016 and 2019 and was on the 2016 Louisville Slugger Freshman All-America team.  Kunz was drafted by the Los Angeles Angels in the 33^rd round of the 2019 MLB Draft.
 
The 2010-2019 Baseball All-Decade Team is listed below in alphabetical order by position and features six starting pitchers, four relief pitchers, five outfielders, six infielders, one catcher, two utility players, one designated hitter and one head coach.  In case of ties, additional honorees have been added.
