Sweet
Priest formed the band Sweet with lead vocalist Brian Connolly, drummer Mick Tucker, and guitarist Frank Torpey in 1968. Mick Stewart took over for Torpey and in 1970, Andy Scott replaced him as guitarist, forming the classic line-up of the UK band. Sweet combined hooky guitar rock with metal elements and big harmonies becoming one of the pioneering glam rock bands. Sweet took off in the early 1970s with many international hits that landed on the US charts including “Ballroom Blitz,” “Fox on the Run,” and “Love Is Like Oxygen.” After Connolly left the band in 1979, Priest became the lead vocalist until the band broke up a couple years later. Priest moved to the United States and toured with a full band as Steve Priest’s Sweet.
