NORMAN, Okla. – For the first time in Notre Dame men’s golf history, the Fighting Irish have landed at least three golfers on the Srixon/Cleveland All-America Scholar list. 2020 graduate John Felitto and rising juniors Taichi Kho and Andrew O’Leary were all recognized.
To be eligible for Srixon/Cleveland Golf All-America Scholar status an individual must be at least a sophomore academically, have a stroke-average under 76.0 and maintain a minimum cumulative career grade-point average of 3.2. For 2019-20 only, they must participate in 40% of the team’s competitive rounds.
It was a record setting year for the award as 614 student-athletes earned the title of All-America Scholar, the most since the awards inception in 1982. Of the 614 honorees, 376 players were Division I selections.
Felitto played in four tournaments, spanning 10 rounds, averaged 73.1 strokes/round and finished 14-over par overall. The highlight of his senior year came at the Colleton River Collegiate, when he captured his first career 54-hole tournament title. Felitto carded a 210 (-6) with a final round 69 (-3) to best 89 other competitors.
Kho played in six tournaments, spanning 16 rounds, averaged 71.4 strokes/round and finished three-under par on the year. Kho earned four top-25 finishes, including two top-10s, notching a runner-up showing at the Quail Valley Collegiate with a 202 (-14). The 14-under par not only marked a career best for Kho, but also marked the second lowest 54-hole score in program history.
O’Leary played in all 19 possible rounds on the season, averaged 72.4 strokes/round and finished 16-over par overall. O’Leary earned three top-25 finishes, with his best showing occurring at the Windon Memorial where he finished in 16th place. His lowest outing came at Quail Valley, where he notched a 210 (-6).
