“Little A” as the Washington Mystics call her has been giving real big energy as Ariel Atkins made the 2021 WNBA All-Defensive Second Team. Atkins has always been trouble for defenses on the court so it’s no surprise she’s being recognized for it. Even Head Coach Mike Thibault approves!
Big congrats to Ariel Atkins for making the All Defense Team!!

With this nod, this makes four consecutive seasons she’s made an All-Defensive team, the first player in WNBA history to do so in their first four seasons. Atkins also is the only player in Mystics franchise history to make team four times consecutively as well and joins former player Alana Beard in being the only players to have the honor four times for the Washington franchise.
How did Atkins earn this wonderful honor? Well she averaged 1.6 steals per game which was fourth in the WNBA for this season and still remained in the top five for steals two seasons in a row.
Atkins also has 175 steals so far in her career, the most in the league. A true ball hawk * insert screeching hawk noise here *
Ariel Atkins just keeps adding to her career accolades this season including a gold medal from Tokyo as part of the USA Women's Basketball team and first time playing in the WNBA All-Star game.
In four seasons Atkins has done so much in so little time. We wonder what she’ll take on next!
