DerMargosian, Trautwein Named All-Region - University of North Texas Athletics - Mean Green Sports

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Hope Trautwein and Tuesday DerMargosian are two of the 380 student-athletes who have earned NFCA Division I All-Region status as announced by the National Fastpitch Coaches Association on Thursday.

Trautwein, the 2021 Conference USA Pitcher of the Year, earned First Team distinction after posting a program-best 1.46 ERA and 235 strikeouts over 129.2 innings pitched. The senior posted a 13-4 record while posting just 40 walks and allowing just 27 earned runs on just 80 hits while opponents hit at a .172 clip against the North Texas ace. Trautwein earned First Team All-Conference USA distinction for her remarkable 2021 campaign that included the first-ever all-strikeout perfect game in Division I softball history on April 11 at Arkansas-Pine Bluff. Her 235 strikeouts marks a new single-season best in North Texas softball history while her 13 wins took her to 61 on her career, giving her the North Texas record.

DerMargosian, the 2021 Conference USA Newcomer of the Year earned Second Team distinction after posting a team-best .397 batting average on a team-high 56 hits while reaching base at a .442 clip and slugging at a .546 mark. The graduate transfer earned First Team All-Conference USA distinction after becoming just the third player in North Texas history to be named the conference Newcomer of the Year. DerMargosian accounted for more hits (56) and home runs (4) during her one season in Denton than her four prior years at the University of Texas combined, the Fort Worth native also accounted for the program's first five-hit game on March 30 at Abilene Christian. 

This is the first time that North Texas has had multiple All-Region honorees in the same season and just the second time that a Mean Green softball player has been named to the First Team (Mariza Martinez - 2009). Lacy Gregory was the last All-Region selection as she earned Second Team honors after the 2019 campaign.
