Twelve Men's Lacrosse players named USILA All-America - Rochester Institute of Technology Athletics - RIT Athletics

ROCHESTER, NY -- RIT senior Walker Hare (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) won his second Ensign C. Markland Kelly Jr. award as the nation's top men's lacrosse goalie and was one of 12 Tigers named to the 2021 United States Intercollegiate Lacrosse Association (USILA) All-America Team, announced Friday.

Hare, senior midfielder Ryan Barnable (Whitby, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson), senior attackman Dawson Tait (Ottawa, Ontario/Mother Teresa) were tabbed First-Team All-Americans, while junior midfielder Ryan Rosenblum (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) and senior defenseman Patrick Shoemay (Surrey, British Columbia/Holy Cross) landed second team honors. Senior attackman Quinn Commandant (Rockwood, Ontario/The Kiski School) and senior defenseman Alex Maruna (Medina, OH/St. Ignatius) were named third-team picks, while senior midfielder Marley Angus (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity), senior midfielder Pent Eistrat (Toronto, Ontario/Humberside Collegiate), senior LSM Taylor Jensen (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster), senior face-off specialist Nick Montemorano (Victor, NY/Victor) and senior attackman Larson Sundown (Basom, NY/Akron) were voted honorable-mention selections.

Hare was also voted the nation's top goalie and a First-Team All-American in 2019. The 2021 Liberty League Defensive Player of the Year owns a 12-0 record with a 9.42 goals against average and a .554 save percentage this season. Hare has compiled double-digit saves six times this spring, including a season-high 17 stops in the 21-8 victory at Clarkson (Apr. 22) as well as 10 saves in last Sunday's 18-16 win over Tufts in the NCAA Tournament Semifinals.
 
A First Team All-Liberty League selection this season, Barnable is fourth on the team with 31 points on 11 goals and 20 assists, including a season-high six points on three goals and three assists in the 19-11 win over visiting St. John Fisher (Mar. 17). A 2019 Second Team All-American, Barnable has six points on two goals and four assists in three NCAA Tournament games, including two goals and an assist in the Tigers' 25-6 win over Cortland (May 16) in this year's second round.

Tait was voted the 2021 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year and leads RIT with 59 points, 47 goals and 4.53 points per game. He recorded a season-high seven points on six goals and one assist on three occasions during the season, including back-to-back wins over visiting St. Lawrence (15-5, Apr. 17) and at Clarkson (21-8, Apr. 22). Tait, a 2019 Honorable Mention All-American, has 10 goals and 15 points in three NCAA Tournament games this year, including five goals in the win over Tufts last Sunday.

Rosenblum is sixth on the team with 20 points on 15 goals and five assists, including a pair of goals in the 12-10 victory at Union (May1) to wrap up the regular-season. Rosenblum also tallied two goals and added two assists in last Sunday's win over Tufts. 
 
Shoemay has anchored a Tiger defensive unit that has held its opponents to 9.30 goals per game. He leads the team with 14 caused turnovers while totaling 22 ground balls, two goals and an assist. He caused a season-high four turnovers in the season opening 23-8 victory over Nazareth (Mar. 10), and had three ground balls in the 19-6 victory over St. Lawrence in the Liberty League Championship (May 8). Shoemay also caused two turnovers and had two ground balls in Sunday's win over Tufts.

Commandant is third on the team with 43 points and second with 30 goals. Scoring at least one point in all 13 games, He tied his season high with five points on four goals and an assist in last Sunday's semifinal win over Tufts and has eight goals and nine points in three NCAA Tournament games in 2021.

Now a three-time All-American, Maruna is third on the team with 11 caused turnovers and has scooped 22 ground balls. A 2018 First Team All-American, Maruna caused a season-best four turnovers in the 19-11 win over St. John Fisher (Mar. 17) and had three ground balls in the regular-season win at Union. 

Angus is fifth on the team with a career-best 29 points on 20 goals and nine assists, including a season-high four goals against Tufts last Sunday. He has eight goals and 10 points in three NCAA Tournament games this season.

Eistrat has 12 ground balls and eight caused turnovers to go along with four goals and eight points this spring, including two goals in the 21-6 win over Ithaca (Apr. 14). He has totaled five caused turnovers, four ground balls, a goal and two assists in three NCAA Tournament games this year, including two assists and a caused turnover in the win over Tufts last Sunday.

Jensen is second on the team with 13 caused turnovers and 30 ground balls. He scooped a season-high four ground balls in the regular-season win at Union and against Tufts last Sunday. He also caused a season-high three turnovers in the Tigers' NCAA win over Cortland. 
 
Montemorano leads the team with 104 ground balls and 8.0 ground balls per contest. He leads the Liberty League with 167 face-off wins, including a season-high 23 to go along with 14 ground balls in the Tufts win. A 2019 Honorable Mention All-American, Montemorano was named the Liberty League Tournament Most Outstanding Player after totaling 14 face-off wins, 11 ground balls, two goals and two assists against St. Lawrence in the championship game.

Sundown is second on the team with 49 points, including a team-high 26 assists, and sits third with 23 goals. He totaled a season-best six points (3 goals, 3 assists) in the 11-9 victory over Union in the Liberty League Semifinal (May 5), and again against Tufts (2 goals, 4 assists) last Sunday. He leads RIT during the NCAA Tournament with 16 points on nine goals and seven assists.

RIT is set to play play Salisbury in the NCAA Division III National Championship game this Sunday (May 30) at 4:00 p.m. in East Hartford, Conn.
