NORMAN, Okla. – The Golf Coaches Association of America released its PING All-Region squads today and the University of Tennessee at Martin standout Nick Wolf was highlighted on the prestigious list.
Wolf was one of 26 honorees on the East region, joining golfers from Campbell, Clemson, Duke, ETSU, Furman, Georgia Tech, High Point, Liberty, North Carolina, North Carolina State, UNC Wilmington and Wake Forest. Overall, the GCAA recognized 153 golfers to its All-Region team, split into Northeast, East, Southeast, Midwest, Central and West divisions. Wolf joins Belmont's Evan Davis (Southeast) as the only two Ohio Valley Conference representatives on the list.
It was a junior campaign to remember for Wolf, who ranked second in the OVC with a 71.1 stroke average. He became only the third golfer in school history to rack up All-OVC accolades on three separate occasions – joining Hunter Richardson (2015-18) and Brendon Caballero (2013-15) in that exclusive company.
Wolf won a pair of events and boasted four top-four finishes in 2020-21, topping the individual leaderboard with exact scores of 204 (-12) at the Bobby Nichols Intercollegiate (March 14-16) and again at the National Intercollegiate (March 29-30). He finished no lower than 15th place in any of the first seven tournaments and tied for the Skyhawks' top finish (38th) at the eighth and final event of the season – the NCAA Regional held in Noblesville, Ind. on May 17-19.
The Murfreesboro, Tenn. native carded 22 countable scores in 23 opportunities, beginning the season with 17 consecutive countable rounds. Wolf pieced together 15 scores of par or better, including a career-best 63 in the second round of the aforementioned National Intercollegiate which ranked as the best score of any OVC player in 2020-21.
Wolf paced the squad in eagles (four), birdies (90), par-4 scoring (3.96) and par-5 scoring (4.64). He was voted as OVC Golfer of the Week on March 18 and April 1.
Achieving a perfect 4.0 Grade Point Average for the third straight season, Wolf was one of the team leaders for a UT Martin squad that captured the program's second-ever OVC championship and led the league with a 288.3 scoring average. The Skyhawks also set an OVC record with their eighth overall (seventh in a row) OVC Team Sportsmanship Award in 2020-21.
