Four Gators Earn ILWomen Media All-America Honors - Florida Gators

GAINESVILLE, Fla. – Four members of the Florida lacrosse team racked up another postseason honor as the ILWomen Media All-Americans were announced on Friday afternoon.

Shannon Kavanagh and Cara Trombetta were named First Team All-Americans, while Sarah Reznick found herself on the Second Team. Kaitlyn Dabkowski rounded out Florida's honorees, grabbing an All-America Honorable Mention nod.

This is Trombetta's fifth honor – during the inaugural vote in 2017, she was named Honorable Mention, while in 2018 she garnered First Team honors. In 2019, Trombetta was named to the Second Team, while a season ago, the Holbrook, N.Y. native once again earned a spot on the First Team.

Kavanagh picked up her third ILWomen All-America honor on Friday, having earned a spot on the First Team in 2020 and Third Team in 2019.

This is the first ILWomen All-America honor for Reznick, though she was named to the ILWomen All-Rookie Team after the shortened 2020 season.

This is also the first ILWomen All-America accolade for the senior defender Dabkowski.

The Gators finished the 2021 regular season with a 16-2 record, going undefeated in American Athletic Conference play (10-0). The team swept both the regular season championship (10th-straight) and tournament championship (seventh-straight). UF is set to play in its first NCAA Quarterfinal since the 2018 season, facing the No. 3 seed Syracuse on Saturday at 2 p.m.

In the fifth year of this award, ILWomen staff and contributors were asked to select four first-team, four second-team, and four third-team attackers and defenders, then three first-team, three second-team and three third-team midfielders, and finally one first-team, one second-team and one third-team draw specialist and goalkeeper. The teams were selected based on the cumulative total of votes received, with honorable mention honorees receiving more than one vote.
