Halvorsen is the sixth player in program history to earn Academic All-District honors and second Catamount to appear on the squad in as many years, joining Onno Steger who was a member of the team in 2019-20.
The 2020-21 Academic All-District Men's Basketball Team, selected by CoSIDA, recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances on the court and in the classroom. Halvorsen advances to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot with Academic All-America® selections announced next month.
Halvorsen finished his career in Cullowhee with a 3.46 GPA majoring in finance. For his career at WCU, Halvorsen tallied 1,266 points to rank 27th all-time in scoring. The Kingsport, Tenn. native set the school record in February in 3-pointers made in a career and ranks ninth all-time in Southern Conference history with 297. He averaged 10.4 points and 2.3 rebounds per game in 122 games played with 104 career starts. This past season, Halvorsen started all 27 games and led the SoCon with an average of 36.0 minutes played per game as he averaged 12.1 points per game.
Halvorsen is one of five SoCon men's basketball student-athletes that earned Academic All-District honors and is joined on the Academic All-District 3 team by VMI's Kamdyn Curfman. The Citadel's Fletcher Abee and Hayden Brown along with Wofford's Storm Murphy earned spots on the Academic All-District 4 Team.
