The 12 selections mark the seventh consecutive season the Eastern Michigan soccer program has had at least 10 members named to the Academic All-MAC Team, dating back to the 2014 season.
Bowling Green led the way with 17 student-athletes on this year's list. Ball State and Northern Illinois each had 13 honorees, while Eastern Michigan and Western Michigan had 12 student-athletes apiece.
Representing EMU on the team are: seniors Chelsea Abbotts (Ottawa, Ontario-Mother Teresa), Marla Cobetto (Trenton, Mich.-Trenton), Alia Frederick (Linden, Mich.-Linden), Kennady Kuhlman (Howell, Mich.-Hartland), Sabrina McNeill (Whitby, Ontario-Henry Street), Tessa Osborne (Mentor, Ohio-Lake Catholic), Lindsey Shira (New Baltimore, Mich.-Anchor Bay), and Haley Tausend (Barrington, Ill.-Barrington), along with juniors Sarah Ash (South Lyon, Mich.-South Lyon), Simone Chiodo (Oshawa, Ontario-Monsignor Paul Dwyer Catholic), Kylie Frantz (Erie, Pa.-Villa Maria Academy), and Lara Wheeler (Grand Blanc, Mich.-Grand Blanc).
The Academic All-MAC honor is for a student-athlete who has excelled in athletics and academics. To qualify, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests for that particular sport.
