Dwayne Johnson shows off his impressive Black Adam physique ahead of filming kicking off this week. At long last, Johnson's DCEU debut is finally making real progress. The former wrestler-turned-actor was first cast as the franchise's Black Adam in 2014 with an eye on introducing him in the movie Shazam. However, plans later changed, and a proper solo film dedicated to the character was put into development. Black Adam has taken some time to really get off the ground, though, and the coronavirus pandemic only complicated matters last year when it delayed the film.

Luckily, however, Black Adam is just about ready to go. Last week, Johnson confirmed Black Adam will be released in July 2022, firmly putting the movie back on the DCEU's calendar after being briefly removed. The cast has been rounded out, with Pierce Brosnan being the latest to join the project as Justice Society of America member Dr. Fate. He joins Noah Centineo (Atom Smasher), Quintessa Swindell (Cyclone), and Aldis Hodge (Hawkman). Johnson's Jungle Cruise director, Jaume Collet-Sera, will helm Black Adam.

On Wednesday, Johnson revealed he is officially "Black Adam ready," with a brand new workout photo on social media. As usual, Johnson's physique is in tip top shape and is definitely one befitting a powerful villain/anti-hero. Additionally, he confirmed in the caption Black Adam begins filming this very week, perhaps either tomorrow or Friday. You can see his post in the space down below.

Throughout the past year, Johnson has kept fans updated with his workout progress with plenty of beefy pics on social media. His co-stars Centineo and Hodge have similarly put in their own work, proving Black Adam has some heavyweights headed its way. With production on the precipice of kicking off, the cast is finally able to embark on the project they've been waiting so long to begin, and it must be quite the relief. Perhaps Johnson will share some fun peeks at the Black Adam set once the ball gets rolling.

Black Adam will tell the origin story of Johnson's titular former slave. Early concept art for the film was revealed at DC FanDome last summer, hyping up the ancient aesthetic of the project. For Johnson, Black Adam has been a long time in the making, and it's about time he finally joins the DCEU. While the movie's actual release is still well over a year away, it's thrilling to know actual footage of the movie will finally exist within the world. Expect more updates from Johnson as Black Adam gets underway.
