Ailsa Clark, Haley Yerxa Named to ASUN All-Academic Team - FGCU Athletics

FORT MYERS, Fla. – Redshirt senior Ailsa Clark (Navarre, Fla./Navarre) and redshirt sophomore Haley Yerxa (Ottawa, Ontario/Hillcrest) were named to the ASUN Women's Golf All-Academic Team as announced by the league office on Tuesday afternoon. For Clark, this marked the second time in her career that she earned the accolade, while the Eagles held the honor of being the only program to have multiple selections.

"I am so proud of Ailsa and Haley as they both personify the term student-athlete. Both of these ladies work so hard on and off the course and I am so happy that they are able to be recognized by the conference," said head coach Sarah Trew. "Ailsa has been balancing a full-time internship this year and Haley has her engineering major, no small task for either of them. I would like to thank both for being such wonderful representatives of FGCU."

Clark also became just the second player in program history to repeat as a back-to-back member of the team joining Sara Detlefsen (2015, 2016). A four-time WGCA Scholar All-American, she holds a 3.867 cumulative GPA in exercise science. She was a member of the 2020 ASUN All-Academic Team last spring and has been a member of the President's List, the Dean's List and the AD Honor Roll. This season on the course, she tied for 13th at the ASUN Championship shooting 228 (77-77-74). Clark ranked fourth on the team in scoring average at 75.68 through seven tournaments (19 rounds). She had five rounds at par-or-better with her best finish of the year (3rd) at the Mid-American Challenge where she shot a season-low 210 highlighted by a season-low 68 in the second round.

Yerxa earned the first all-academic honor of her career as she carries a 4.000 GPA in software engineering. She has been a member of the President's List, the Dean's List, and the AD Honor Roll during her time at FGCU. Yerxa is also an inaugural member of the EAGLE Leadership Institute and a member of the Eagles Council (SAAC). In 2019, she took 2nd place in the 2019 Hertz Hackathon and has served as a Co-Op Student Software Developer for BlackBerry as well as a Junior Software Developer for Bell. Additionally, she serves as an Academic Tutor while also volunteering with several organizations in the community such as the Gulf Coast Humane Society, the Salvation Army, and Octagon.
