Five Football Eagles Earn Academic All-PFL Honors for 2021 - Morehead State University Athletics - MSU Eagles

MOREHEAD, Ky. -- Morehead State Football continues to bring in honors for the program for the 2020-21 season, as five student-athletes have been named to the Academic All-PFL teams.

Junior offensive lineman Cam Marriott and senior linebacker Cameron Barrett earned first-team honors. Barrett's accolade was his second consecutive first-team honor.

Senior wide receiver BJ Byrd, senior linebacker DJ Niculescu and senior kicker/punter Andrew Foster garnered second-team awards.

The Academic All-PFL teams honor players from the league who possess at least a 3.30 cumulative grade-point average and make significant on-the-field contributions.

Marriott has earned a 3.92 GPA in political science. From Redlands, Calif., he blocked for a unit that generated 335 yards on offense per game in PFL contests. The junior started all seven games this season. He graded out as one of the top offensive linemen on the team and was named First-Team All-PFL

Barrett, from Dayton, Ky., has a 3.83 GPA in marketing. He finished with 46 tackles, including four for losses. His total stops ranked second on the team. Barrett also collected two interceptions and recovered a fumble. He returned one pick-off 75 yards for a touchdown at Butler. Barrett was named Honorable Mention All-PFL.

Byrd, who owns a 3.41 GPA in strategic communications, finished as the PFL leader in receiving touchdowns with eight. He also led all PFL players with 54 points accounted for, kick return touchdowns with one, and total touchdowns with nine. The Richmond, Calif., native racked up 734 all-purpose yards on the season. Byrd was also named the PFL Co-Special Teams Player of the Week after his performance against Butler at home and was a double award winner for All-PFL.

Niculescu, a native of Corona, Calif., had 32 total stops this spring. He has a 3.75 GPA in exercise science. Niculescu also had two tackles for loss and a pair of QB hurries.

Foster, who has generated a 3.50 GPA in sport management, logged 36 punts and averaged 41.4 yards per punt. He averaged 40 or more yards on punts for the third consecutive season. He also made two field goals and 21 extra point kicks and was named Second-Team All-PFL.
