LEXINGTON, Ky. – For the first time since 2012 and the fourth time in program history, Morehead State volleyball sports an American Volleyball Coaches Association All-American as senior outside hitter Olivia Lohmeier was named Honorable Mention All-American the association announced Wednesday.Lohmeier joins Katelyn Barbour (2008), Holly Evans (2010), and Ellie Roberson (2012) as AVCA All-Americans to don the blue and gold as she continues to add to an expansive list of career accomplishments.
One of two players in program history to earn two AVCA All-Region selections and one of three players to be a two-time Ohio Valley Conference Player of the Year adds her second All-America honor in as many seasons, garnering Honorable Mention All-American honors from VolleyballMag.com in 2019, to become the lone player in Morehead State volleyball history to twice be named an All-American.
The Cincinnati, Ohio native finished the 2020-21 campaign as the OVC's leader in four major statistical categories, leading the conference in kills, kills per set, points, and points per set. On the year she tallied 286 kills and 329.5 points in 66 sets to average 4.33 kills and 4.99 points per set.
Lohmeier also connected at a .281 clip on the year, tallying her 286 kills with just 91 errors on 695 swings. She also chipped in 95 digs and 43 total blocks defensively while adding 18 service aces and three assists on the offensive end.
She was instrumental in helping Morehead State to the best season in program history, posting a 17-2 record and .895 winning percentage while leading the Eagles to their first NCAA Volleyball Championship victory, an upset of Creighton in the 2021 NCAA Division I Women's Volleyball Championship First Round.
Collecting 17 kills in the victory over Creighton and another 14 in the second round versus No. 6 Florida, Lohmeier extended her streak of double-digit kill matches to 31 matches—the second-longest streak of her career—as she became the ninth player in program history to reach 1,500 career kills.
At the conclusion of the 2020-21 season, she ranks ninth in career kills with 1,509 and seventh in career hitting percentage, posting a .271 career hitting efficiency.
