ROCHESTER, NY -- Twelve members from RIT men's lacrosse were named to the 2021 Liberty League Men's Lacrosse All-Conference team announced Tuesday, May 11. Senior Dawson Tait (Ottawa, Ontario/Mother Teresa) was named the 2021 Liberty League Offensive Player of the Year, while classmate Walker Hare (Libertyville, IL/Libertyville) earned Defensive Player of the Year honors. Head Coach Jake Coon and his coaching staff were named the 2021 Coaching Staff of the Season.

Tait, Hare, midfielders Ryan Barnable (Whitby, Ontario/Donald A. Wilson) and Ryan Rosenblum (Limerick, PA/Spring-Ford) and defenseman Patrick Shoemay (Surrey, British Columbia/Holy Cross) were first team selections. Quinn Commandant (Rockwood, Ontario/The Kiski School), Taylor Jensen (New Westminster, British Columbia/New Westminster), Nick Montemorano (Victor, NY/Victor) and Alex Maruna (Medina, OH/St. Ignatius) were second team picks, while Larson Sundown (Basom, NY/Akron), Marley Angus (Oakville, Ontario/Holy Trinity) and Pent Eistrat (Toronto, Ontario/Humberside Collegiate) were honorable mention selections.

Tait, a 2019 All-Liberty League Second Team pick, leads RIT and the Liberty League with 44 points and 37 goals, averaging 4.40 points per contest. He has recorded at least one point in all 10 games this season, including a season-high seven points three times in wins over St. John Fisher, St. Lawrence and Clarkson. Tait, the eighth Tiger to be named Offensive Player of the Year, scored four goals in RIT's 19-6 win over St. Lawrence in last Saturday's Liberty League Championship.

Hare, a 2018 and 2019 All-Liberty League First Team selection, has started all 10 games in goal for RIT in 2021. The 2019 Ensign Markland Kelly Jr Award winner as Division III's best goalie, Hare leads the Liberty League with an 8.35 goals against average and is third in the conference with a .583 save percentage. Hare, a 2019 USILA First Team All-American selection, made 10 or more saves four times, including a season-high 17 saves in a win at Clarkson. Hare, who becomes the seventh Defensive Player of the Year, made six saves to earn the win against St. Lawrence in the Liberty League Championship.

Barnable, a two-time All-Liberty League selection including first team honors in 2019, has played in all 10 games this season. He is fourth on the team in scoring with 25 points on nine goals and 16 assists. He is tied for fourth in the league in assists, and is fifth averaging 1.60 assists per game. Barnable recorded a season-high six points on three goals and three assists in a win over St. Joh. Fisher College.

Rosenblum has played in all 10 games in 2021 and is sixth on the team in scoring with 20 points on 15 goals and five assists. He tallied six goals in Liberty League play, including a pair of goals at Union in the regular season finale. Rosenblum scored a goal against St. Lawrence in the Liberty League Championship.
 
Shoemay has started all 10 games on defense for RIT in 2021. He has helped the Tigers hold their opponents to 8.60 goals per game and leads the team with 12 caused turnovers. Shoemay has 17 ground balls and three points on two goals and an assist. He caused a season-high four turnovers in the season opener against Nazareth College, and had three ground balls against St. Lawrence in the Liberty League Championship.
 
Commandant has played in all 10 games and is third on the team in scoring with 32 points on 22 goals and 10 assists. He is fifth in the league averaging 2.20 goals per game, and has recorded at least one points in all 10 games, including a season high five points on four goals and an assist in a win at St. John Fisher. Commandant tallied six goals and seven points in the Liberty League Tournament, including three goals and an assist versus St. Lawrence in the championship game.
 
Jensen has started all 10 games at long-stick midfield for RIT. He is tied for third on the team with eight caused turnovers and second on the team with 23 ground balls. He scooped up a season-high four ground balls in a win at Union in the regular season finale., and caused two turnovers and had three ground balls against St. Lawrence in Saturday's Liberty League championship game.
 
Maruna, a four-time All-Liberty League selection, including first team honors in 2018 and 2021, has started all 10 games on defense this season. He has helped RIT's defense hold opponents to 8.60 goals per game. A two-time USILA All-American selection, Maruna is second on the team with 10 caused turnovers and scooped up 17 ground balls. Maruna caused a season-best four turnovers in a win over St. John Fisher on March 17, and had three ground balls in a win at Union in the regular season finale.

Montemorano, a 2019 All-Liberty League Honorable Mention selection, has started every game this season. He leads the Liberty League with 74 ground balls, averaging 7.40 per contest. He is eighth in the league winning .557 of his face-offs, and leads the league with 122 face-off wins. He won a season-high 15 draws in an 11-9 win over Union College in the Liberty League Semifinal, and was named the Liberty League Tournament's Most Outstanding Player after winning 29-of-41 face-offs, 20 ground balls and tallied three goals and an assist in two games last weekend. He won 14-of-19 draws in Saturday's Liberty League title game against St. Lawrence to go along with 11 ground balls and two goals and an assist.

Angus has played in all 10 games at midfield for RIT in 2021. He is seventh on the team in scoring with a career-best 19 points on 12 goals and seven assists. He has a point in all 10 games, including a season-high three goals in a win over Ithaca College. Angus had an assist against St. Lawrence in Saturday's Liberty League final.
 
Sundown has played in all 10 games this season and is second on the team in scoring with 33 points on 14 goals and 19 assists. He is second in the Liberty League averaging 1.90 assists per game, and is sixth averaging 3.30 points per game. Sundown has a point in all 10 games, including a season-best six points on three goals and three assists in a win over Union in the Liberty League Semifinal. He tallied two goals and two assists in the Liberty League Championship against St. Lawrence.

Eistrat played in nine games this season, helping RIT's defense hold opponents to 8.6 goals per game. He has eight ground balls and four caused turnovers to go along with three goals and four points. He scored a season-high two goals in a win over Ithaca College, and recorded an assist to go along with a ground ball and a caused turnover in the Liberty League title game against St. Lawrence.

Jake Coon and assistant coaches Shawn Wilkins and Donny Moss and volunteer coaches Austin Fox and Jimmy Spillane (River Vale, NJ/Pascack Valley) have led RIT to an impressive 10-0 record including wins over seven ranked opponents. It is the third time since joining the Liberty League in 2012 that Coon and his coaching staff have been honored as coaching staff of the year. Coon was the 2011 USILA and 2013 MCLA Division III Coach of the Year.

RIT, ranked third in this week's USILA Division III Coaches poll, received a first round bye in the 2021 NCAA Division III Men's Lacrosse Championship. The Tigers will face the winner between SUNY Cortland and UMass Boston in the second round of the NCAA Tournament on Sunday, May 16 at 4 p.m. from the campus of Stockton University in Galloway, N.J.
