Zlateva had an outstanding graduate season going 12-1 in singles, including a perfect 5-0 record against A-10 opponents. Zlateva was a two-time A-10 Player of the Week and finished the season 11-0 in her last 12 singles matches having never lost a set. Zlateva went 2-0 in singles in the A-10 Championship earning wins against Davidson and Rhode Island at No. 2 singles. In doubles, she paired with Dunbar to post a 9-5 doubles mark at the No. 1 position. The duo finished the season 5-1 in their last six doubles matches with their lone loss coming against VCU. Zlateva ends her Richmond career as a three-time A-10 All-Conference player (2017 Second Team All-Atlantic 10, 2019 Second Team All-Atlantic 10, 2021 First Team All-Atlantic 10).
The Spiders finished 2021 with a 9-5 overall record and went 2-1 in the A-10 Tournament making a run to the championship final for the second-straight season. The Spiders fell in the championship to crosstown rival VCU, 4-0, but will return four of its six top players.
VaSID names 44 all-state teams in 23 sports each year, as well as an Academic All-State squad and an all-sports champion in both the University and College Divisions. Membership in VaSID is open to all media relations professionals working at a university or conference in the state of Virginia.
