The Academic All-District teams are voted on by members of CoSIDA whose schools are in the region. District 2 consists of schools from Washington, D.C., Delaware, Kentucky, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania and West Virginia. To be eligible for the team, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade point average of 3.30 or better and be a starter or key reserve.
"We are so proud of all of Jeff's accomplishments. He has been the model of the term student-athlete," said head coach Matt Utesch. "We are glad that he is being recognized for the hard work he has put in over the last four years."
The applied economics major earned a 3.92 cumulative GPA to be given the honor and the fifth-year student-athlete is coming off a remarkable end to his athletic career running for the Brown and White. At the PLCs, as he used a late surge in the final mile of the 10K to earn a silver medal and a second-place finish with a time of 30:31.33. Then two weeks later at the IC4A/ECAC Championships, Kirshenbaum beat his previous time in the 10K and set a new PR in his final race and finished eighth overall with a time of 30:14.54 to garner All-East honors.
In the Lehigh Season Opener, Kirshenbaum won the 5K with a time of 15:07.50, plus a second-place finish at the Lafayette Open in the 5K at 15:06.30. Lehigh's Happy Easter Races saw the senior tally a fourth-place finish in the 5K with a time of 14:58.22.
