FORT COLLINS, Colo. – A pair of Rams earned recognition for their achievements in competition and in the classroom, as CoSIDA announced the selections for the Women's At-Large Academic All-District Teams on Thursday.
Swimmer Jennae Frederick was selected for the second consecutive year, while tennis player Emily Luetschwager was named for the first time. Colorado State is in District 7, and the two were chosen among a pool of athletes from not only their sports, but also lacrosse, water polo, crew, gymnastics, field hockey, fencing, ice hockey, rifle, beach volleyball and bowling. District 7 consists student-athletes in Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Nebraska, New Mexico, Nevada, Oklahoma and Texas.
All of the selections from the eight Division I districts automatically advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America honorees will be announced in early August.
Frederick graduated this spring with a perfect 4.0 GPA in her career while majoring in International Studies and minoring in Spanish. She is a 10-time placer at the Mountain West Championships, winning the 'B' final of the 200 butterfly the past two seasons.
Luetschwager gradated this spring with a 3.90 GPA in Statistics with a concentration in Mathematical Statistics and double minors in Economics and Mathematics. Also on Thursday, the two-time All-Mountain West performer was named the winner of CSU's Mencimer Memorial Award, presented annually to the top female academic achiever.
