CORAL SPRINGS, Fla. – Seven members of the 2020-21 Illinois State women's golf team have been named as a Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholars. Those seven include seniors Becca Black, Paige Seiser, and Emma Sutton, sophomores Emma Rouger, Ali Schrock, and Maria Toledo Bailey, and freshman Avalon Woodward.
"I am so proud of my golfers for the dedication they show in the classroom," said Illinois State head women's golf coach Bre Hall. "While this past year presented us with many challenges, the team continued to display grit and perseverance through it all. Our program has high standards in the classroom, and they hold each other accountable to those expectations. A huge thank you to Jaylyn Jenks and the entire academic support staff at ISU for their commitment to our student-athletes."
The seven different golfers to earn the honor this season is the most by a single squad in program history. The Redbirds join just 13 other schools across NCAA Division I, II, III, NAIA, and JUCO to put seven golfers on the list – the most by any one team in the country – including just five other NCAA Division I schools. ISU is joined by Bowling Green, Concordia University (St. Paul), Gustavus Adolphus, Ohio Northern, Quinnipiac, Rhodes, Seattle, Sonoma State, St. Catherine, St. John's Univ., Cincinnati, Mary Hardin-Baylor, Toledo with seven golfers on the list. She was second on the squad with a 76.8 stroke per round average, and in her seven events during the year, she had one top-five finish and three finishes inside of the top-10.
