Benedict Cumberbatch packs on the PDA with wife Sophie Hunter as they attend the premiere of his film The Power Of The Dog at Venice Film Festival

They tied the knot in an intimate ceremony on the Isle of Wight in 2015.

And Benedict Cumberbatch and wife Sophie Hunter were more in love that ever as they packed on the PDA at the premiere of his film The Power Of The Dog amid the 78th Venice Film Festival on Thursday.

The actor, 45, cut a very dapper figure in a sharp black suit as he cosied up to his theatre directer partner, 43, who looked lovely in a white and red patterned gown.

Benedict teamed his suit with a crisp white shirt and black tie, finishing off the smart shoes with shiny patent black shoes.

While Sophie was radiant in a billowing a-line gown which featured thin straps, pockets and pleating on the skirt.

The beauty finished off her striking look with quirky earrings and a pop of bright red lipstick, while her brunette locks were styled into an elegant bun.

The couple could barely keep their eyes or hands off each other as they posed for the snaps at the premiere of the film star's latest project.

Sherlock star Benedict was also joined on the red carpet by co-star Kirsten Dunst and the film's director Jane Campion, both of whom had attended the earlier photocall with him.

Other cast members from the film were also in attendance at the glittering event.

Steal the show like Sophie wearing Emilia Wickstead

At the Venice Film Festival, your eye is drawn to every angle as a flock of famous faces step onto the red carpet wearing this glamorous gown and that designer label.

However, at The Power Of The Dog premiere, we only had eyes for Sophie Hunter as she stepped out wearing this stunning Emilia Wickstead gown.

Hailing from next year's Resort 2022, the powder pink dress is cut with a fitted square-neck bodice and floor-sweeping A-line skirt. Although it's definitely the ornamental motif pattern that makes it stand out.

Until the collection becomes available, check out the latest pieces you can snap up at NET-A-PORTER (click right). But if Sophie has inspired you to shop for a new party piece, simply head to the carousel.

In a recent trailer for The Power Of The Dog, Kirsten was seen being tormented by co-star Benedict's character.

Benedict's cruel character is seen teasing and tormenting a widow played by Kirsten as he runs a ranch in 1925 Montana alongside his brother George, played by Dunst's real life husband Jesse Plemons.

The Western drama is the film adaptation of Thomas Savage's 1967 novel and sees Benedict, 45, star as cowboy Phil Burbank.

Though Cumberbatch harasses Dunst's character Rose and her son Peter, George takes a liking to them and marries her.

Furious at his new family members, Phil continues to lash out at Rose.

He's then seen in a moment mentoring Peter, played by Kodi Smit-McPhee, prompting viewers to wonder if Phil could be kind or if he was plotting something sinister.

The Power Of The Dog's ensemble also includes Thomasin McKenzie, Frances Conroy, Keith Carradine, Peter Carroll, and Adam Beach, among others.

It is filmmaker Jane Campion's first time directing a feature film since Bright Star 12 years ago.

And critics are expecting the film to get a solid awards season push, according to Entertainment Weekly.

Cumberbatch's performance already earned him the TIFF Tribute Actor award at the 2021 Toronto International Film Festival, which isn't until next month.

The Power Of The Dog will be released November 17, 2021 in cinemas and will stream on Netflix on December 1.
