2021 All-ACC Baseball Teams Announced - The ACC

GREENSBORO, N.C. (theACC.com) - After announcing its 2021 baseball award winners Monday morning, the Atlantic Coast Conference has announced the all-conference and all-freshman teams. The three all-conference teams, all-freshman team and individual awards were selected by a vote of the league’s head coaches.

ACC Player of the Year Matheu Nelson of Florida State, Pitcher and Freshman of the Year Parker Messick of Florida State and Defensive Player of the Year Sal Frelick of Boston College each earned a spot on the All-ACC First Team.

Each of the conference’s 14 baseball programs are represented on the all-conference teams.

NC State led all schools with seven selections across the three all-conference teams, while Boston College, Florida State, Georgia Tech, Louisville, Miami, Notre Dame and Pitt each had four. Virginia and Wake Forest had three selections apiece, Clemson, Duke and North Carolina had two honorees and Virginia Tech had one.

Ten of the 12 all-freshman team members also earned all-conference recognition with FSU’s Messick, Miami’s Carson Palmquist, NC State’s Jose Torres and Virginia Tech’s Gavin Cross claiming first-team honors.

Pairings and game times have been set for the 2021 Atlantic Coast Conference Baseball Championship, which gets underway Tuesday at Truist Field in Charlotte, North Carolina.

The ACC Baseball Championship will feature a pool-play format, leading into a four-team, single-elimination bracket to determine the league champion. Each team in the four pools will play one game against each of the other two opponents in its pool Tuesday through Friday (May 25-28). The four teams with the best records within their respective pools will advance to Saturday’s semifinals, with the winners playing on Sunday in the ACC Championship Game.
