DEKALB, Ill. – Thirteen members of the Northern Illinois University women's soccer team were named to the Academic All-MAC Team released by the league office on Tuesday (May 18). NIU's 13 honorees marks the sixth consecutive season in which the Huskies have had 10 or more student-athletes receive Academic All-MAC recognition. 

This season's conference academic honor is the third for a pair of NIU seniors, Amanda Czerniak (South Elgin, Ill./St. Charles North) and Megan Donnally (Plainfield, Ill./Plainfield North). Five additional Huskies have garnered the award for the second time, seniors Haley Hoppe (Austin, Texas/Rouse) and Madison Kaufmann (St. Charles, Ill./St. Charles North) along with juniors, Kylee Hermeyer (Dixon, Ill./Dixon), Julia Lentz (Bolingbrook, Ill./Bolingbrook) and Jenny Lewey (Sycamore, Ill./Sycamore). 

Six NIU sophomores, Nicole Barham (Long Beach, Calif./Los Alamitos), Nicolette Gossage (Moneka, Ill./Lincoln-Way Central), Hannah Kroupa (New Berlin, Wis./New Berlin), Abby McHugh (Wauconda, Ill./Wauconda), Julia Neary (Vernon Hills, Ill./Vernon Hills) and Isabella Sabo (Grand Blanc, Mich./Grand Blanc), earned Academic All-MAC honors for the first time. 

NIU's 13 honorees is tied for the second-most in the conference, along with Ball State, only Bowling Green (17) had more Academic All-MAC recipients. 

To qualify for Academic All-MAC honors, a student-athlete must have at least a 3.20 cumulative GPA and have participated in at least 50 percent of the contests during the season.
