Major League Baseball All-Star rosters were announced today, and the White Sox pitchers selected are no surprise: Liam Hendriks, Carlos Rodon, and Lance Lynn will all make the trip to Denver.
It’s the first time since 2006 that the White Sox have had three pitchers represent the team at the All-Star Game when Bobby Jenks, Mark Buehrle, and Jose Contreras all made appearances. Hendriks leads the American League in saves with 21, while Rodon and Lynn, of course, hold sparkling ERAs (amongst other things) of 2.37 and 2.02, respectively.
On the position player side of things, nobody made the cut. I’d argue for Yasmani Grandal, of course, though maybe his .190 batting average is simply too low for the traditionalists out there.
Earlier in the week, Rodon had this to say about the All-Star possibility:
