Women's Golf with Four Honored as WGCA Academic All-American Scholars - HerdZone.com

HUNTINGTON, W.Va. – Four members of the Marshall women's golf team garnered Women's Golf Coaches Association (WGCA) All-American Scholar honors, the organization announced. Seniors Kerri Parks and Stormy Randazzo, junior Torren Kalaskey and sophomore Makena Rauch earned the accolades.
 
The criteria for an athlete to be named a WGCA All-American Scholar the player must maintain a cumulative grade point average of 3.50 and have played in at least 50 percent of their team's events for the year. A total of 1,432 women's collegiate golfers from all levels were recognized with this prestigious honor.
 
"I'm proud of the continued success we have in the classroom every year," Herd head coach Brooke Burkhammer said. "After a year full of craziness and unknown things, these ladies found a way to be successful just like they always do. I'm really proud of their dedication and commitment."
 
Parks earns the honor for the third time in her collegiate career. The Flushing, Mich., native closed out her Herd career starring on the course and in the classroom. She competed in 31 total events, missing just one during her time with the Green & White, and had nine top 10 finishes as well as 19 in the top 20. Parks carried a 3.87 GPA as a chemical sciences major with a concentration on pre-pharmacy and a minor in biology. She was named to the Conference USA All-Academic team for the second time in 2020-21. Parks was also a four-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and a four-time recipient of the Academic Medal.
 
Randazzo also earned the All-American Scholar honor for the third time. The Rowlett, Texas native has been a steady performer for the Herd on and off the course, never missing a tournament during her career. She competed in all 32 events that were played in her four years with the Green & White, finishing with five top 10 finishes and 11 in the top 20. Randazzo carried a 3.61 GPA as a broadcast journalism major. She was a four-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll. Randazzo graduated in May with her degree in journalism.
 
Kalaskey stepped up during her junior year and earned the WGCA honor for the first time. The Charleston, W.Va., native played in all five events for the Herd in the shortened 2020-21 season and has competed in eight total events in her Marshall career. She carries a 3.84 GPA as a biological science major with a concentration on cell, molecular and medical and minors in chemistry, creative writing and psychology. Kalaskey served as Marshall's Student Athlete Association Committee (SAAC) President this past year and also earned the 2021 Conference USA Spring Spirit of Service Award. She is a three-time member of the C-USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and three-time recipient of the Academic Medal.
 
Rauch also earned the All-America Scholar honor for the first time. After playing in just two events as a freshman, the Moscow, Idaho native played in all five this year and showed improvement on the course. Off the links, she carries a 3.92 GPA as a political science major with a concentration on legal studies. Rauch is a two-time member of the Conference USA Commissioner's Honor Roll and two-time recipient of the Academic Medal.
 
All six members of the Herd's roster, including junior Jackie Schmidt and freshman Hanna Shrout were members of the C-USA Commissioner's honor roll, and all finished with GPA's of 3.50 or higher.
