Southeastern Places League-High Three on Preseason All-Southland Teams - Southeastern Lions Athletics

HAMMOND, La. – Southeastern Louisiana University placed a conference-high three student-athletes on the 2021-22 Preseason All-Southland Conference women's basketball teams, which were released on Tuesday by the league office.  
 
2020-21 All-Southland Conference selections Morgan Carrier and Hailey Giaratano were both named to the first team for SLU. The Lady Lions were represented by senior forward Caitlyn Williams on the second team.
 
Southeastern's three selections topped the Southland, while HBU and Nicholls placed two apiece on the teams. McNeese, Texas A&M-Corpus Christi and UIW had one representative each.
 
Carrier led Southeastern and ranked 10^th in the Southland with 12.3 points per game. The New Iberia, Louisiana native also ranked among the league leaders in field-goal percentage (45.1, 18^th), three-point field goals percentage (43.3, 2^nd) and three-point field goals made (2.2, 2^nd).
 
Carrier scored in double figures in 13 games and also had 13 games with multiple three-point field goals. Carrier is currently among the Southland career leaders in three-point field goals made (132, 5^th) and attempted (373, 6^th).

Giaratano was an All-Southland and Academic All-Southland choice in 2020-21. The Ponchatoula, Louisiana native averaged 11.2 points per game, while also ranking among the league leaders in field-goal percentage (11^th), three-point field goal percentage (7^th), three-point field goals per game (1.4, 10^th), assists (22^nd), blocks (18^th) and minutes played (31.6, 7^th).

Williams averaged 10.5 points and 7.1 rebounds per game, while shooting 62.1 percent from the field, over the final eight games of the season after missing the first 11 games of 2020-21 recovering from injury. The Brusly, Louisiana native enters the 2021-22 campaign ranked 10^th in school history with 642 career rebounds.  
 
The Lady Lions will open the 2021-22 season at Tulane with a 12 p.m. contest on Nov. 9.
