Four Men's Soccer Players Awarded Big South All-Conference Honors - Gardner Webb University Bulldogs

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – Gardner-Webb Men's Soccer had four members of the program named to the Big South All-conference teams, which was announced this afternoon by the conference office.
 
Abel Gebrekiros and Samuel Catherall were both named to the Second-Team All-Conference, Sebastian Reventlow was named to the All-Freshman Team, and Cole Sanfilippo was named to the All-Academic Team. 
 
Abel Gebrekiros – Second-Team All-Conference
Gebrekiros started in 10 out of 11 games he played in this season. The Senior Forward accounted for 12 total points this season, coming from four goals and four assists, with two of those being game winning goals against Longwood and Winthrop. This season Gebrekiros earned Big South Offensive player of the week twice for his role in the win's against VMI (2 Goals) and Longwood (Game Winning Goal). 
 
Samuel Catherall – Second Team All-Conference
Playing on the back line for Gardner-Webb Catherall started in all 11 games that he has played in this season. Catherall played a key role in shutout wins against VMI, Furman, and Winthrop this season. Catherall earned Big South Defensive Player of the week honors in week one, for his role in the VMI shutout. 
 
 
Sebastian Reventlow – All-Freshman Team
The freshman midfielder started 8 out of 9 games played in this season accounting for a total of 758 minutes of playing time. Reventlow's first career goal came in the match against Furman, giving them the lead, which turned into a win for Gardner- Webb. Reventlow was awarded Big South Freshman of the week for his first career goal in the match against Furman. 
 
Cole Sanfilippo – All Academic Team
The senior defenseman started all 11 games, and he has a total of 984 minutes logged on the pitch this season. Sanfilippo played a key role in the five wins that the program had this season against VMI, Furman, Longwood, Presbyterian, and Winthrop. While also helping the team to three shutouts during the course of the spring season.
