United Soccer Coaches NCAA All-Region Teams
Kansas City, MO – The United Soccer Coaches named fifth-year senior James Strine (Hockessin, Del./Salesianum School) and senior Eric Gwadz (Washington D.C./Woodrow Wilson) to NCAA Division III Region V teams. Strine was a First Team pick and Gwadz earned Third Team accolades.
Strine, a First Team All Centennial Conference selection this past season, produced 26 points (3rd in Centennial Conference) on a career-best ten goals and six assists. Strine, who scored the game-winning goal in the conference finals against Gettysburg, finished his career with 22 goals and 24 assists (68 points), including seven game-winning goals. He also produced the first Washington College game-winner in an NCAA Tournament game this past November against St. Lawrence when he put in his own corner kick. Strine finished the season with four-game winners.
Gwadz, the 2021 Centennial Conference Tournament Most Valuable Player, came on strong down the stretch and finished eighth in the league with 19 points (8 goals, 3 assists). A converted forward this past season, Gwadz, scored an incredible eight goals over his last 10 contests and finished with 10 markers for his career. Two of his goals were game-winners, including the Centennial Conference semifinal overtime win against Franklin & Marshall. Gwadz was named the Division III National Player of the Week for the week of October 18-24 as announced by the United Soccer Coaches. Gwadz scored four of the team's five goals in a 2-0-0 week for the Shoremen as they clinched a conference tournament spot for the first time in five years. Gwadz was an Honorable Mention All Centennial Conference performer this past season.
The Shoremen just finished a historic season in Chestertown, winning a school-record 15 games in 2021. The squad captured their first-ever Centennial Conference Championship and won their first two contests in the NCAA Men's Soccer Tournament, reaching the Sweet 16 for the first time in program history. The two NCAA Tournament victories were also Washington's first for the school.
