Prince Charles has posted a montage of photos from throughout Prince Philip’s almost 100-year lifetime in a moving tribute to his “dear Papa.”
Charles, the UK’s 72-year-old heir to the throne, used his official Clarence House social media pages to share the tribute on Tuesday.
“My dear Papa was a very special person,” he wrote in an Instagram caption, quoting his own speech from Saturday praising his late father’s “most remarkable, devoted service.”
To stirring piano music, Charles’ montage started with his father and mother, Queen Elizabeth II, with him and his sister, Princess Anne, when they were both young children.
Many more of the other 37 snaps used for the video show Philip enjoying tender moments with his family — often making the Queen and his children laugh with what grandson Prince William called his “mischievous sense of humor.”
Others showed Philip in more formal settings, with Clarence House noting how the late Duke of Edinburgh “was associated with 992 organizations, either as President, Patron, Honorary Member or in another capacity” throughout his life.
“This week, @TheRoyalFamily is taking a look back at these causes The Duke was passionate about,” the caption read.
Philip, the longest-serving royal consort in British history, died at home at Windsor Castle on Friday, just two months shy of his 100th birthday. His funeral is Saturday.
