Five Spiders Named VASID Women's Track & Field All-State - RIchmond Spiders Athletic

RICHMOND, Va. – Five University of Richmond women's track and field student-athletes were named to the Virginia Association of Sports Information Directors (VASID) All-State Teams, the organization announced.
 
Brooke Fazio (Basking Ridge, N.J.) and Kamryn Ross (Richmond, Va.) collected First Team selections while Rachel Helbling (McDonald, Pa.), Kayla Woods (Wilmington, Del.), Elizabeth Stockman (Rocky Hill, Conn.) and the 4x400 relay team were named to the Second Team.
 
Fazio, a 2021 Outdoor First Team All-American in the 800m, finished 8th at the NCAA Championship Finals (2:02.97). At the NCAA East Prelims, Fazio set a new personal and Richmond record in the 800m with a time of 2:02.73 (11th) to advance to the finals in Oregon. Fazio, a three-time VASID All-State selection, won titles at the Atlantic 10 Championship in the 800m (2:03.09) and 4x400 (3:41.75).
 
Ross finished second at the ECAC Championship in the 100m hurdles, tallying a personal record time of 13.73. Ross, a two-time All-State honoree, collected silver at the Atlantic 10 Championship in the 100m hurdles (13.75) after winning her prelim heat (13.86). She also helped the 4x400 relay collect first place at the A-10 Championship (3:41.75).
 
Helbling finished with a time of 54.84 (41st overall) in the 400m at the 2021 NCAA East Prelims. At the Atlantic 10 Championship, she won the 400m with a personal record time of 53.58, and posted a personal best in the 200m prelims (24.52) to advance to the 200m finals where she finished seventh (25.08). She also helped the 4x400 relay win with a time of 3:41.75.
 
Stockman finished second in the 1500m at the Atlantic 10 Championship (4:28.04) and crossed the finish line fourth in the 5K (17:20.17). She also won the 1500m at the GMU Spring Invitational with a personal best time of 4:26.95. Stockman also finished second in the 1500m at the Colonial Relays (4:33.17) after she opened the outdoor season with a personal best 16:53.76 in the 5K.
 
Woods posted a distance of 5.91m (31st overall) at the 2021 NCAA Champions East Prelims. She became the 2021 Atlantic 10 Long Jump Champion with a personal and Richmond record of 6.21m.
 
The Spiders 4x400 relay team of Woods, Helbling, Maria Acosta (Maywood, N.J.), and Fazio won the ECAC 4x400 relay title with a season-best time of 3:41.40 to complete Richmond's undefeated indoor and outdoor season in the event. UR's 4x400 relay also won the Atlantic 10 title with a time of 3:41.75.
