NORMAL, Ill. - Illinois State graduate Sydney Laufenberg has been selected to the CoSIDA Academic All-District Team, the organization announced on Thursday afternoon. The Academic All-District Men's and Women's Track & Field/Cross Country Team recognizes the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances in the competition realm and in the classroom.
A two-time member of the USTFCCCA All-Academic Team and four-time MVC Scholar Athlete, Laufenberg was selected for the District 5 First Team. Laufenberg holds a perfect 4.00 GPA in the Family and Consumer Sciences graduate program.
At the 2021 NCAA Outdoor Championships, Laufenberg earned First-Team All-America after placing fifth in the women's discus with a mark of 58.02 meters (190-4 ft.), breaking her own school record in the process and punching a ticket to the U.S. Olympic Team Trials.
First-team Academic All-District® honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America® ballot. First-, second- and third-team Academic All-America® honorees will be announced in mid-August.
