PORTLAND, Ore. – Junior forward Cameron Cranston was selected to the Great Northwest Athletic Conference Preseason Team on Thursday. Cranston was named to the Honorable Mention GNAC Team following the 2019-20 season.
Cranston is coming off of a big season in which he helped lead the Wolves to a 19-win campaign and made a push for a regional spot. He finished second on the team in scoring at 13.0 points per game. He also averaged 3.6 rebounds, dished out 48 assists, had 36 steals, 18 blocks and shot over 48 percent (132-274) from the field. Cranston added 53 three-pointers to finish second on the team, connecting on nearly 40 percent. He played all 27 games that included 26 starts, reaching double-figures in scoring in 18 games. Cranston scored a season-high 29 points against MSU Billings and had five games tallying over 20 points a contest. He connected on multiple three-pointers in 14 games, drilling six against MSU Billings. Cranston nearly recorded a double-double with a season-high eight rebounds against Notre Dame de Namur while adding 17 points. Nine times during the season he had at least five rebounds, dished out five assists against Alaska Fairbanks, sent back three blocks in two games (Central Washington/Seattle Pacific) and had four steals in a game twice against Regis and Saint Martin's.
His breakout sophomore season came on the heels of a true freshman campaign where he played in 30 games for a team that won 22 games and advanced to the regional tournament.
Cranston and the Wolves will open the 2021-22 season on Nov. 4 with a home exhibition game against Linfield starting at 7 p.m. inside New PE Gym. The regular season tips off on Nov. 12 when WOU will travel to California to play Cal State San Bernardino.
