Massachusetts youth hockey programs have a severe shortage of referees due to abuse from parents, coaches, and players. It is resulting games being postponed and cancelled; which is nothing but bad for the sport. If you are a hockey parent, coach, or player, then respect the referee. They’re doing a job and maybe even volunteering to do so. It is not perfect. And you’re not playing for any actual stakes. So give them a break. Do not be the reason why the game suffers.
