The Los Angeles Lakers' difficult start to the season hit a new low on Friday night, as they lost in triple-overtime to the Sacramento Kings after blowing a 13-point lead in the fourth quarter. With the defeat, they dropped back under .500 at 10-11, which has them in seventh place in the Western Conference.
Unsurprisingly, the vibes were extremely bad after the game. Social media was abuzz with questions about Frank Vogel's future as head coach, and Lakers legend James Worthy was despondent on the postgame show. "I just want to go home," Worthy said, "That is not team basketball. That is not a winning formula."
The good news for the Lakers fans is that Anthony Davis has the solution to the Lakers' problems. You see, all they have to do is go on a 10-game winning streak. Via ESPN:
"You know, 10-11, I mean, we could go on a 10-game winning streak, 12-game winning streak, now the narrative is different," Davis said. "You know, 10-game winning streak, we're 20-11. Now we'll shut everybody up. But it's on us. We're going to have to do it. It's not just going to be easy."
Davis is right that a double-digit winning streak would change the narrative. It's just extremely funny to say that when you've only won 10 games all season and just lost in triple-overtime to a Kings team that fired their coach a few days ago because they've been such a mess.
Any time you have to start making up unrealistic scenarios in your head, you know things are not going well. And things are not going well for the Lakers. This was their fourth loss in the last six games, they're ranked 22nd in offense, 20th in defense and have a minus-3.2 net rating -- worse than teams like the Spurs, Timberwolves and Pacers. A team that was ready to go on a long winning streak would not blow a double-digit lead at home in the fourth quarter.

Also, in case you were wondering about the likelihood of a double-digit winning streak, the Lakers have done it 29 times in franchise history, which dates back to 1947. Most of those were before the modern era, however, and they've only won at least 10 games in a row once in the last decade. That was in November of 2019 -- the season they won the title.
