SOMERSET, N.J. - The Northeast Conference (NEC) released its 2021 all-conference football teams on Wednesday afternoon with 10 Duquesne Dukes garnering all-league honors. 

Wide receiver Cyrus Holder, offensive lineman Jake Dixon, linebacker Jahan Worth and defensive back Leandro DeBrito were named First Team All-NEC while running back Billy Lucas, offensive linemen Vincent Lumia and Roman Macek, defensive lineman Maxi Hradecny, linebacker Todd Hill as well as defensive back Jeremiah Josephs earned Second Team All-NEC accolades. 

Holder, Dixon, Worth, DeBrito, Lumia, Macek, Hradecny and Hill each garner their second-straight all-conference nods. Lucas - who was selected as the NEC Offensive Rookie of the Year this past spring - and Josephs were selected to the all-conference teams for the first time in their careers. 

Holder tallied 37 receptions for 629 yards with eight receiving touchdowns in his second season on the Bluff. The Saint Francis U transfer eclipsed 100 receiving yards three times on the season and paced the conference in receiving yards per game for the second-straight campaign. Holder hauled in six catches for 125 yards and two touchdowns in the Dukes' season finale at Wagner after recording five receptions for 114 yards and a score in a win over Central Connecticut in Duquesne's final home game. In 15 career games for the Dukes, Holder finished with 60 receptions for 1,220 yards and 13 touchdowns. 

Dixon, Lumia and Macek helped Duquesne pace the NEC and rank 17th in the NCAA Football Championship Subdivision (FCS) in sacks allowed per game, limiting opponents to 1.2 sacks per contest. The DU offensive line held opposing teams to one sack-or-fewer in eight of 10 games on the season. The O-line blocked for five individual 100-yard rushing performances and a pair of 300-yard passing showings on the year while helping the Dukes lead the conference and rank third in the country in red zone offense, scoring on 94.9 percent of trips inside the opponents' 20-yard line. Duquesne also ranked second in the league in scoring, averaging 29.5 points per game. 

DeBrito matched a team high with 56 tackles on the season, pacing the Dukes with 42 solo stops on the year. He added two tackles for loss, a pair of interceptions and three pass breakups. DeBrito finished with seven tackles in a pair of Duquesne NEC wins over Bryant and LIU, also recording a pass breakup in each of those victories. The Cape Verde native had three tackles and one of four Duquesne interceptions in the Dukes' first NEC triumph of the season at Merrimack. He finished with a season-high 11 tackles with a forced fumble against Saint Francis U and had eight tackles and an interception in the season-opener at TCU. 

Worth tied for the team lead with 56 tackles including 38 solo stops, registering 6.5 tackles for loss, an interception and four pass breakups on the year. Worth ranked seventh in the NEC with 6.71 tackles per game in conference contests on the season. He tallied a career-high 11 tackles (eight solo) with a tackle for loss in the season finale at Wagner. Worth registered eight tackles (six solo) including 2.5 tackles for loss in the Dukes' NEC victory at LIU. He added seven tackles (six solo) with his first career interception to go with a pass breakup in Duquesne's league win at Merrimack. 

Lucas totaled 699 rushing yards on the season with six rushing touchdowns to pace the Dukes' ground game. His 560 yards in NEC play ranked second in the conference. The Erie, Pa. native posted a pair of 100-yard rushing performances on the season, highlighted by a career-high 137-yard effort with a pair of touchdowns in Duquesne's NEC road win at LIU. For that showing, Lucas earned his first career NEC Offensive Player of the Week award. He tallied 16 carries for 105 yards and a score in the Dukes' season finale at Wagner, as well. Lucas also found in the end zone in conference victories over Merrimack and Central Connecticut. 

Hradecny ranked second on the team with 7.5 tackles for loss for Duquesne and recorded 19 total tackles to go with four sacks, a forced fumble and three quarterback hurries. The Austria native had three tackles in the win over Central Connecticut, including a key strip sack which set up the game-winning score for the Dukes. A physical presence on the DU defensive front, Hradecny added two sacks at Sacred Heart as well as two tackles with a tackle for loss in the season-opener at TCU.

Hill sat fourth on the team with 38 tackles (21 solo) with 6.5 tackles for loss, 1.5 sacks, four quarterback hurries and a pass breakup. He tallied a season-best six tackles in three different games against Bryant, Sacred Heart and Central Connecticut. The local product had four tackles with at tackle for loss, a hurry and pass breakup in the Dukes' shutout win over Wagner while tallying three tackles with a pair of tackles for loss including a sack in the victory over Virginia University of Lynchburg 

Josephs notched 32 tackles with 18 solo stops, 2.5 tackles for loss, a pair of interceptions and two pass breakups in his first season with Duquesne. The Miami (Ohio) transfer garnered NEC Defensive Player of the Week honors after recording two interceptions, two pass breakups and five tackles with a tackle for loss in the Dukes' road NEC win at Merrimack. He had a season-high eight tackles to help Duquesne post its first win over an opponent from the Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) in Ohio on Sept. 11. Josephs added seven tackles against Sacred Heart and five stops in the win over Bryant. 

Duquesne capped the 2021 season with a 7-3 overall mark and a 5-2 ledger in NEC play under 17th-year head coach Jerry Schmitt. The Dukes closed the year with a three-game winning streak to finish second in the NEC standings. Duquesne has finished first or second in the conference in eight of 14 campaigns since joining the NEC prior to the 2008 season. The Dukes have posted more overall wins (76) and conference victories (48) than any other team since the beginning of the 2011 season. Duquesne became the first team from the NEC to defeat an FBS team when the Dukes topped Ohio 28-26 in Athens in the second game of the 2021 season.
