Boxer Football Has 15 Named All-Northwest Conference - Pacific University Athletics

HILLSBORO, Ore.- The Pacific University football team had 15 student-athletes selected to an All-Northwest Conference team, announced Monday afternoon by league officials.
 
There were four Boxers featured on the first team and eight more received Second Team All-Conference Honors. In addition, three student-athletes were recognized as NWC Honorable Mentions.
 
FULL ALL-CONFERENCE TEAM
 
All-time leading rusher Joshua Harris (Senior/Sonora, CA) earns First Team All-Conference honors after enjoying an unbelievable senior campaign as Pacific's running back. The senior racked up 932 yards on the ground with 14 total touchdowns. Harris averaged 103.6 yards per game and registered six 100-yard rushing performances in 2021. Harris amassed 2,775 yards and 34 touchdowns in his career as he holds the program record in both categories.
 
Ty Hargis (Senior/Lebanon, OR) also ends his Pacific career by garnering First Team All-NWC honors. The senior wide receiver concluded his senior season as the Boxers' all-team leading receiver, recording 2,201 yards and 213 receptions (program records) during his four years. In 2021, Hargis made 50 catches for 601 yards and four touchdowns. Hargis was incredibly clutch in his final season, making two game-winning grabs. His first came in the dying seconds at Pomona-Pitzer and his second coming in the season finale against Pacific Lutheran.
 
Roman Okonowski (Senior/Queen Creek, AZ) also earns First Team recognition after starting all nine games and paving the way for Pacific's incredible run game as the Boxers' left tackle. Deshayne Stevens (Junior/Ewa Beach, HI) was named First Team All-NWC on the defensive side of the ball after causing havoc in the backfield all season long. The linebacker recorded 24 tackles with five tackles-for-loss and two sacks. 
 
Quarterback Kenyon Harris (Senior/Ogden, UT) put together an excellent senior campaign on his way to Second Team All-NWC honors. The Pacific signal caller threw for 1,693 yards with 14 touchdowns and just four interceptions. Harris competed 67.8% of his passes which was second best in the conference. The senior also tallied 214 on the ground with two rushing touchdowns.
 
Josh Spaulding (Sophomore/Springfield, OR) was named Second Team All-NWC after starting all nine games at guard and anchoring one of the best offensive lines in the conference. Collin Weires (Junior/Henderson, NV) earns Second Team honors after his fantastic season as the Boxers' punter. Weires was named NWC Student-Athlete of the Week twice in 2021 and kicked for 1,550 yards and a 39.7-yard average. He led the conference in punts inside the 20-yard line (17) and blasted five punts over 50 yards.
 
Leading the Boxers receiving corps with six touchdowns and receiving Second Team All-NWC recognition is Kyle Kern (Junior/Roseville, CA). Kern was third in the conference in receptions with 47 on the season while racking up 478 yards receiving. 
 
Noah Steverson (Sophomore/Rohnert Park, CA) was also tabbed Second Team All-NWC after making 27 total tackles with a team-high 10.5 tackles for loss and seven sacks. Steverson also forced a fumble and blocked a kick in his sophomore season. Michael Timmerman (Senior/Torrance, CA) was another defensive player to be named Second Team All-NWC after finishing second on the team with 43 total tackles. The linebacker recorded 3.5 tackles for loss with 1.5 sacks.
 
Another Second Team All-NWC recipient, Chase Hofmann (Junior/Half Moon Bay, CA), led the Boxer defense with 59 total tackles. Hofmann recovered a fumble and broke up three passes and blocked a kick in 2021.
 
Declan Brown (Senior/Layton, UT) had an outstanding 2021 season, leading the Pacific defense with three interceptions. Brown also recorded 26 tackles from the cornerback position and started all nine games in the Boxer secondary.
 
Eric Soares (Sophomore/Manteca, CA), Tyler Vargas (Sophomore/Newman, CA), and Tui Tuitele (Redshirt Senior/Milwaukie, OR) were named NWC Honorable Mentions for their contributions this season.
 
The Boxers finished 6-3 (5-2 NWC) and posted their best conference record since 2014.
