Darling Named MAAC Libero Of The Year, Highlights NU's All-MAAC Selections - NU Purple Eagles.com

EDISON, N.J. – Amanda Darling has been named the MAAC Libero of the Year for the second straight season, announced by the conference on Thursday. The Purple Eagles landed five players on All-MAAC teams; Jaycie Roberts was named to the All-MAAC First Team, Darling and Mary Redl were named to the All-MAAC Second Team and Laryssa Imbuzeiro and Kelly McArthur were All-MAAC Rookie Team selections.

Darling averages 5.43 digs per set, which leads the conference and is seventh in the NCAA. Darling has also recorded 15 aces this season. Darling, who was a two-time MAAC Libero of the Week honoree, recorded a season-high 35 digs in a victory at Saint Peter's on Nov. 13; it was just two short of her career-high.

Darling has recorded double-digit digs in 21 matches this season and notched 20 or more digs in 14 matches.

Roberts, who was a two-time MAAC Player of the Week honoree, has a team-high 19 doubles-doubles this season. She averages a team-best 3.81 kills per set and is also adding 3.95 digs per set. She is fifth in the MAAC in kills and sixth in digs. She leads the Purple Eagles in aces with 28.

This season, Roberts surpassed 1,000 career kills and recorded her 100th career ace at Rider on Nov. 14. She recorded a season-high 20 kills and 23 digs at Rider on Nov. 14.

Redl has recorded 10 double-doubles this season. She had a season-high 20 kills at Saint Peter's on Nov. 13 and a season-high 20 digs versus Iona on Oct. 30. She is averaging 3.05 kills per set and 1.99 digs per set. She is sixth in the conference in kills. Redl has also added 56 total blocks (six solo, 50 assists) for the Purple Eagles. She earned her first career MAAC Player of the Week award on Nov. 2.

Imbuzeiro earned MAAC Rookie of the Week two times this season. She has recorded 79 total blocks (10 solo, 69 assists) this season and is second on the team in aces with 24. Imbuzeiro recorded a career-high nine total blocks at Rider on Nov. 14. She had a career-high four aces on Oct. 9 at Siena and a career-best 10 kills at Marist on Oct. 10.

McArthur is averaging 3.56 assists per set for Niagara. She has also added 20 total blocks (two solo, 18 assists). McArthur notched a career-high 22 assists and four total blocks at Rider on Nov. 14. She has recorded double-digit assists in seven matches this season.

In addition to the All-MAAC Teams, the conference also announced the MAAC All-Academic Team. Lexi Bapst, Casey Brown, Darling, Redl, Roberts, Jacki Schmitz, Cassie Seminoff, Allie Simpson, Jessica Streuer and Sarah Weiby all earned All-Academic honors.

To qualify for the MAAC All-Academic Team, a student-athlete must have completed two semesters at their institution and maintain a grade point average of 3.2 or higher on a 4.0 scale.
The No. 5 Purple Eagles take on No. 4 Canisius in the quarterfinals of the MAAC Championships on Friday, Nov. 19 at 2:00 p.m.
