DURHAM, N.C. — Senior Leah Crouse and graduate students MaryKate Neff and Eva Nunnink have been named to the National Field Hockey Coaches Association All-South Region second team as announced by the organization Monday, Nov. 22.

This is the first All-South Region recognition for Crouse and the second consecutive for Nunnink, while Neff captures her third all-region mention after garnering All-Mid-Atlantic honors at Princeton in 2017 and 2019.

Crouse, a team captain, started 14 of the 15 games she played this season. A dynamic midfielder, Crouse was fifth on the team in scoring with three goals and two assists. She ranked second on the team in shots taken with 31.

After missing the first game while playing with the United States at the Junior Pan American Championship, Crouse returned to start the final 14 games of the season. She notched her first goal of the season in a 3-1 win at Princeton and tacked on ones at James Madison and William & Mary.

For her career, the Virginia Beach native played in 67 games with 44 starting assignments. She was an All-ACC second team pick in 2019 and is a three-time member of the ACC Academic Honor Roll. With 18 goals and 16 assists to her name, Crouse ranks 39th in Duke history in career points at 52. She is one of 41 players in the history of the program to amass at least 50 points. She also recently was named to the NFHCA Division I Senior Team.

Neff joined the Blue Devils for the 2021 season as a graduate student transfer from Princeton. The Villanova, Pa., native was a mainstay for Duke in the midfield, starting all 17 games and playing nearly every minute. A key member of the penalty corner group, Neff finished the season tied for first on the team in points with 13 from four goals and five assists. She scored the game winners at James Madison and
Boston University.

For her career, the two-time All-Ivy selection played in 77 career games and started 76 of those. She finished her career with 54 points from 21 goals and 12 assists.

A two-time All-ACC selection after garnering second team honors this season, Nunnink rounds out the Blue Devil selections. Nunnink did it all for the Blue Devils, helping to anchor Duke's backline, while also providing a scoring punch. She finished the season with eight points from two goals and four assists. This is the second straight year, Nunnink earned all-region notice – she was a first-team pick in 2020.

A native of Eindhoven, Netherlands, Nunnink joined the Blue Devils as a graduate student for the 2020-21 season. She made an immediate impact on the field and won All-ACC first team honors in 2020 and was tapped a team captain for the 2021 campaign. In her two seasons in Durham, Nunnink started all 29 games and posted five goals and six assists for 16 points.

The NFHCA Division I All-Region team announcement is the first in a list of postseason awards to come from the NFHCA over the next several weeks. Next to be announced are the NFHCA Regional Players of the Year on November 29, they will be followed by the NFHCA All-American teams on December 14 and the NFHCA National Player of the Year on December 16.
